Kelleher Construction Company recently completed Next Generation Children’s Center in Beverly. The 24,000 square foot state of the art facility houses 18 classrooms featuring an Infant wing, Toddler, Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten rooms. Incorporated into the facility is a full commercial kitchen that serves breakfast, lunch and three healthy snacks daily for the 250 students and staff of 70. There are two indoor play spaces and a covered outdoor play space in addition to two large playgrounds for different age groups.
Details were not overlooked on this fast-tracked project that epitomizes high quality child care and early childhood education as evidence in its safety features and functionality. Protruding corners have been removed and replaced by rounded walls, finger guards cover all doors and special soft fall mulch is layered 18” deep in the playground to name a few measures. The functionality is evident in the bathroom designs that correlate to the potty training stages of the children, the color coding of the classrooms indicates the age groups using them and floors in the infant rooms where the children crawl and learn to walk have radiant heat.
This project was completed in 28 weeks coming in under budget and ahead of schedule despite the severe winter weather on the North Shore.
